Internal funding opportunity for Stanford Faculty
There are two internal funding opportunities offered by ICMIC. This webpage contains the internal selection process for the Research Projects. There is another webpage which discusses the internal selection process for the Developmental Projects.
Internal deadline: March 2, 2009
(see "Submitting an Application" below)
ICMIC Website
Eligibility
Established investigators (Stanford faculty with UTL, MCL or NTLR appointments)
All applications, regardless of relationship to the ICMIC@Stanford, will undergo the same level of scrutiny before being identified as an appropriate Developmental Project.
Amount of funding/Budget Information:
Applicants may request up to $150,000 in total direct costs for one year. This renewal ICMIC grant has a cycle of 5 years. Thus, the applicant may request $750,000 it total direct costs for 5 years.
Purpose
Dr. Sanjiv Sam Gambhir is soliciting new and continuing research projects (RO1 equivalent) from established investigators to collaborate with and join the efforts in submitting a renewal for the Stanford P50 ICMIC grant. Up to 4 research projects will be selected. Those selected will then be required to write up their entire research proposal (aims, preliminary data, etc.) that will be submitted along with the entire P50 grant renewal application by June 2009. Center grants offer a greater opportunity for scientific interactions and overall progress than with individually-funded projects. Details of previously funded projects can be found at the website above.
The vision of ICMIC@Stanford is to bring together researchers from various disciplines to form synergistic teams that will make significant advances in the use of multimodality molecular imaging strategies for better linking pre-clinical models of cancer with the clinical management of cancer. Members of these teams will include trainees that will gain access to a highly multidisciplinary experience, and who will become well equipped to establish independent, multidisciplinary research programs. Projects will mainly include those that have a high potential for linking pre-clinical imaging models with clinical imaging for improved cancer patient management. Priority will be given to projects that have at least one specific aim that is focused on a clinical trial. Projects must have a direct cancer focus. This program will be funded through the NIH/NCI P50 grant.
Examples of possible research projects include but are not limited to:
1- Development of novel instrumentation for molecular imaging that can be tested in patients for the first time.
2- Development of novel molecular imaging agents for any imaging modality that can be translated into a clinical trial as a part of the specific aims.
3- Imaging patients using an existing novel molecular imaging agent.
4- Projects related to the treatment of cancer where molecular imaging plays a key role.
Submitting an Application
Deadline: Monday, March 2, 2009
Applicants should submit one electronic copy as an e-mail attachment in PDF format of the following to Billie Robles in the Radiology Department at brobles@stanford.edu by March 2nd.
