Internal funding opportunity for Stanford Faculty
There are two funding opportunity announcements offered by the ICMIC. This webpage contains information on the internal selection process for the Development Projects. The other webpage contains information on the internal selection process for Research Projects.
Internal deadline: March 5, 2009
(see "Submitting an Application" below)
ICMIC Website
Eligibility
Established investigators (Stanford faculty with UTL, MCL or NTLR appointments)
All applications, regardless of relationship to the ICMIC@Stanford, will undergo the same level of scrutiny before being identified as an appropriate Developmental Project.
Amount of funding/Budget Information:
Applicants may request up to $50,000 in total direct costs for up to a one-year duration.
This renewal ICMIC grant has a cycle of 5 years.
Most Developmental Projects will be a one-year project and continuation of a project beyond its first year will be contingent upon the success of the previous year.
Multiple developmental projects by the same investigator are allowed to be submitted. An investigator may also submit both a developmental project and a ICMIC P50 research project (described in separate announcement). For examples of previous developmental projects please see the above website.
Purpose
Dr. Sanjiv Sam Gambhir is soliciting new and continuing developmental projects from established investigators to collaborate with and join the efforts in submitting a renewal for the Stanford P50 ICMIC grant. Up to 4 developmental projects will be selected. Those selected will then be required to write up their entire developmental project proposal (aims, NIH format, etc.) that will be submitted along with the entire P50 grant renewal application. Center grants offer a greater opportunity for scientific interactions and overall progress than with individually-funded projects.
The in Vivo Cellular and Molecular Imaging Center (ICMIC@Stanford) is soliciting new and continuing Developmental Projects from established investigators. The vision of ICMIC@Stanford is to bring together researchers from various disciplines to form synergistic teams that will make significant advances in the use of multimodality molecular imaging strategies for better linking pre-clinical models of cancer with the clinical management of cancer. Members of these teams will include trainees that will gain access to a highly multidisciplinary experience, and who will become well equipped to establish independent, multidisciplinary research programs. Projects will mainly include those that have a high potential for linking pre-clinical imaging models with clinical imaging for improved cancer patient management. Project must have a cancer focus but do not need to have significant if any preliminary data. This mechanism of developmental projects is designed to allow pilot projects to be funded which can then obtain enough preliminary data for additional extramural funding. Clinical translational projects are encouraged but not a necessity. This program is funded through the NIH/NCI P50 grant.
Submitting an Application
