Amount of funding: $100,000/yr x 5 years.
Eligibility:
Faculty Scholars must hold a doctoral degree: M.D., Ph.D., or their equivalents
Stanford junior faculty with PI eligibility [MCL, UTL or Research (NTLR) appointments].
If they are physicians/surgeons, they must have their primary site of clinical/academic activity at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital (LPCH)
They must carry out work in support of the strategic priorities of the LPCH and the Stanford School of Medicine (SSoM) as they relate to innovation in child health and training of child health researchers
Terms
All Morgridge Faculty Scholar awards limited to a single 5 year term. The Faculty Scholar recipient will be asked to submit a one-page progress report and a financial status report annually. During the final year of the award, the Faculty Scholar holder will be asked to provide a dossier including a curriculum vitae along with a written report describing accomplishments achieved during the tenure of the award.
By February 2010 TBA, please submit the following as a PDF file (in the order listed below) via email attachment to Bonnie Whalen at the Childrens Health Initiative bwhalen@lpch.org.
1) Nomination letter addressed to Bonnie Whalen, Children's Health Initiative (CHI) Program, from your department chair. The chair’s nominating letter will outline the nominee’s clinical, education, research and administrative roles and time commitments should he/she be successful in their application to become a Faculty Scholar.
2) Updated CV
3) NIH Biosketch and "Other support page"
4) Personal statement (maximum 1 page using Arial 10 font or larger) wherein it describes how the award will both enhance their career development and the Strategic Plan and Strategic Goals of the LPCH and SSoM as it relates to innovation in child health
5) Research proposal
Format: maximum of 4 pages of text, not including references, and no more than 5 additional pages of attachments or appendices. Use Arial 10 point font or larger and place the applicant’s name on every page along with the page number.
The proposal should contain: a concise description of the project aims, hypothesis, background, preliminary studies (if available), overall design, methods and potential pitfalls, and a 5-year budget. For human – based studies there should al
