Evaluation of Teaching

Faculty on all rotations evaluate residents' teaching skills as part of the standard end-of-rotation performance evaluation.

Residents complete anonymous peer evaluations that address elements of leadership, supervision, and teaching.

Students enrolled in the core clerkship and subinternships in pediatrics submit evaluations of individual residents’ teaching using an electronic form in E*Value.  Students provide narrative comments and numerical ratings in four domains:

  • Learning Climate
  • Facilitation of Learning
  • Feedback
  • Professionalism

Residents are encouraged to review their teaching evaluations periodically by logging into E*Value:

  • Go to www.e-value.net
  • Log in with your username and password.  Contact Gretchen if you have forgotten either.  If you are given a choice, log in under Pediatrics Clerkships.
  • From the list of options on the top menu:
    • Go to Evaluations

    • Select Educator Reports
    • In the Performance Overview box, select Comments

  • Enter a time frame (Start Date and End Date)
  • Click Next at the bottom of the screen

Use the link to see a collection of anonymous comments from students.

If you have fewer than three evaluations on file, you will be unable to view students’ ratings and comments.  Please contact Gretchen Shawver (gshawver@stanford.edu ) if you would like us to send you a report.
