The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is an academic medicine department within the School of Medicine at Stanford University composed of six Divisions:

- Division of Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences
- Division of Public Mental Health and Population Sciences
- Division of Sleep Medicine
- Major Laboratories and Clinical & Translational Neurosciences Incubator
We have adult, sleep, and child inpatient and outpatient clinics where our faculty provide clinical care, which are operated by Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children’s Health at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital on the Stanford Medicine campus, the Sleep Clinic at the Redwood City Outpatient offices. We have research, clinical, and training programs at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System in Palo Alto and Menlo Park, and research labs and administrative offices through the Stanford University campus and surrounding area.
Our more than 257 faculty members and 278 adjunct and affiliated volunteer faculty members are involved in research, patient care, community engagement, education, and leadership. We engage with more than 6500 learners each year, including students in high school, undergraduate and graduate programs, medical school, residency and fellowships, clinical psychology programs, and behavioral and neuroscience research fellowships, continuing medical/professional education of practicing faculty and community clinicians.
Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children’s Health
Our hospital and clinical services at Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children’s Health encompass a 29-bed acute adult inpatient unit, a 15-bed Comprehensive Pediatric Care Unit that serves children and adolescents, a Medical Psychiatry and Consult Liaison Service, and an array of specialty clinics, including, but not limited to:
Addiction Medicine Dual Diagnosis, Adolescent Crisis, Adolescent Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Eating and Weight Disorders, Assessment, Autism and Developmental Disorders, Behavioral Neurogenetics, Integrative Medicine, Child Parent Management, Cognitive Behavioral Sleep Medicine, Couples and Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Executive Function, Sleep Medicine, Geropsychiatry, Psychosis, Interventional Psychiatry, Mood Disorders, Neuroendocrine and Sex Chromosome Variation, Neuropsychiatry, Neuropsychological Assessment, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders, Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome, Anxiety and Traumatic Stress, Psychosocial Treatment, Psychosomatic Medicine, School Based Services, Sleep Health & Insomnia, Sports Psychiatry and Psychology, Virtual Reality-Immersive Technology, and Women’s Wellness
