Research InterestDr. Sanders is the Program Director of the Comprehensive Care Unit at Stanford where she teaches and works with inpatients with eating disorders. She has specialized in the treatment of eating disorders for the past 25 years at Stanford. She has written extensively and presented nationally on the subject of the evaluation and treatment of eating disorders and also in the field of child abuse, specifically in the area of Munchausen by proxy. Dr. Sanders is also involved with an internationa..

Research InterestDr. Scanlon's research interests include the development and application of cognitive, neuropsychiatric, motor, and biological markers for the development and progression of neurodegeneration. Specifically, his research focuses on better understanding relationships between neuropsychological functioning, objective measures of motor function, and underlying biomarkers in neurodegenerative disease, chiefly Parkinson's disease.

Research InterestMy research focuses on studying phenomenology, vulnerability factors, and psychiatric and medical comorbidity of panic disorder in old age, as well as treatment responses to medication in elders with panic disorder. I am presently involved in establishing and extending our preliminary finding that Late-Onset Panic Disorder (LOPD) (onset at or after age 55) is a phenomenologically distinct syndrome from Early-Onset Panic Disorder (EOPD).

- CPAP Adherence
Research InterestResearch interests are focused on the study of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTi) treatment outcome, modification of CBTi and use in special populations, treatment development, and evaluation of clinical factors in early remission and relapse prevention. Additional area of research interest includes development of an integrated model of care for improved CPAP adherence outcomes.

Research InterestAs part of the Pediatric Bipolar Disorders Program, Dr. Singh conducts research in the phenomenology, neurobiology, pharmacology, and genetic aspects of bipolar disorder in children. These studies include brain imaging (MRI, MRS, fMRI), medication, and psychotherapy trials. She is particularly interested in risk factors for the development of bipolar disorder and associated morbidities, and early intervention strategies to delay the onset and progression of symptoms.

- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation
Research InterestMy work is focused on novel interventional treatment approaches for treatment resistant unipolar and bipolar depression. We are currently enrolling patients with treatment refractory bipolar depression for a radiosurgical neuromodulation study. We are awaiting the start of enrollment for a DBS in unipolar depression study. I am also working with children in Sub Saharan Africa. Primarily I am focused on methods to assess well-being, and long term outcomes for these vulnerable children.

Research InterestInformation transfer at synapses mediates information processing in brain, and is impaired in many brain diseases. Thomas Südhof is interested in how synapses are formed, how presynaptic terminals release neurotransmitters at synapses, and how synapses become dysfunctional in diseases such as autism or Alzheimer's disease. To address these questions, Südhof's laboratory employs approaches ranging from biophysical studies to the electrophysiological and behavioral analyses of mutant mice.

Research InterestApplication of magnetic resonance imaging modalities and component process analysis of cognitive, sensory, and motor functions to identify brain structural and functional mechanisms disrupted in neurodegenerative conditions: alcoholism, Alzheimer's disease, HIV infection, and normal aging. Our laboratory is applying structural MRI, MR spectroscopy, and MR diffusion tensor imaging to animal models of aging and alcoholism in parallel with the human studies.
