Scientific Focus

Current Research Interests

Dr. Van Dam's research efforts include developing methods for the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer. His current research focus involves the application of Raman and light-scattering spectroscopy to endoscopic imaging. Dr. Van Dam is an NIH-funded investigator and the author of more than 300 scientific papers, reviews, and abstracts. He directs Stanford’s fellowship in advanced interventional/therapeutic endoscopy. Dr Van Dam is President of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the immediate Past President of the Bockus International Society of Gastroenterology.
