We demonstrated that the extent of tumor lymphangiogenesis can predict the risk of metastasis to distant and sentinel lymph nodes in patients with melanoma. A new focus of investigation has resulted from our discovery of a novel angiogenic pathway mediated by endothelial nicotinic cholinergic receptors (nAChR).
