I am particularly interested in the potential involvement of the recently discovered peptide hormone apelin. Recent studies in my laboratory group have focused on apelin's role in promoting insulin sensitivity on the systemic, tissue-specific, and cellular level. We develop methods for the interpretation of whole genome sequencing data to improve diagnosis of genetic disease and to personalize the practice of medicine. We also use RNA sequencing data to generate gene networks and link communities.
