Synthesis and properties of cyano-bridged nickel(II)-iron(III) complexes.

Four novel CN-bridged NiII-FeIII complexes, K[Ni(NH3)3(H2O)2(NC)Fe(CN)5] and K[NiL3(NC)Fe(CN)5].xH2O (L, x = en, 1; 1,3-diaminopropane, 3; 1,2-diaminopropane, 2), were synthesized and characterized by elemental anal., IR and UV-visible spectral anal., and magnetic moments. The formation of cyanide bridges is evident from the IR and UV-visible spectra by the appearance of n(CN) shifts and changes in lmax with respect to the mononuclear parent complex [Fe(CN)6]3-. The magnetic properties indicate the existence of magnetic spin interactions between NiII and FeIII through the cyanide bridge.
