Research InterestThe Reijo Pera Laboratory is focused on pluripotent stem cells and regenerative medicine with an emphasis on understanding key cell fate decisions in early human development. In particular, we examine early events such as the generation of pluripotent stem cells, somatic and germ cell lineages and pathologies that arise in development.

Research InterestMy laboratory, the Center for Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences Research (CIBSR), focuses on multi-level scientific study of individuals with typical and atypical brain structure and function. Data are obtained from genetic analyses, structural and functional neuroimaging studies, assessment of endocrinological status, neurobehavioral assessment, and analysis of pertinent environmental factors. Our overarching focus is to model how brain disorders arise and to develop disease-specific treatments.

Research InterestThe auditory sensory cell, the hair cell, detects mechanical stimulation at the atomic level and conveys information regarding frequency and intensity to the brain with high fidelity. Our interests are in identifying specializations associated with mechanotransduction and synaptic transmission leading to the amazing sensitivities of the auditory system. We are also interested in the developmental process, particularly in how development gives insight into repair and regenerative mechanisms.

Research InterestDr. Robinson focuses on "solution-oriented" research, developing and evaluating effective health promotion and disease prevention interventions for children and adolescents. His research is mostly experimental, conducting school-, family- and community-based randomized controlled trials to test theory-driven behavioral, social and environmental interventions to prevent obesity, improve nutrition, increase physical activity, reduce smoking, and study the effects of children's television use.

Research InterestMy research interests focus on detection of early and progressive Cystic fibrosis (CF) structural lung disease by utilizing chest CT imaging and CT post-processing methodology. Current research efforts involve utilization of low dose infant & children CT imaging protocols and quantitative airway and air trapping algorithms to evaluate early and progressive CF disease.

Research InterestDr. Rose is Director of the Motion & Gait Analysis Lab, her research focuses on the neuromuscular mechanisms underlying gait deficits in cerebral palsy (CP), including muscle pathology, motor control, postural balance, and neuromuscular activation. Recent research examines neonatal brain development on MRI & gait deficits in preterm children. Dr. Rose serves on the Research Committee of the AACPDM and leads the NIH Research Network on Artificial Walking FES-assisted Gait for Children with CP.
