Research InterestI am interested in the prevention and management of infectious complication in pediatric oncology patients. I am currently conducting a retrospective chart review of voriconazole vs. fluconazole for the prevention of invasive fungal disease after allogeneic stem cell transplant. I am also interested in developing a protocol for the management of low risk patients with fever and neutropenia.

Research InterestDr. Kumar's primary research focuses on diabetes autoantibodies as predictive and diagnostic markers of type 1 diabetes, with ulitmate goal of secondary prevention in at-risk children. Other active research includes dietary triggers of type 1 diabetes in children, and pubertal hormone trends with aromatase inhibitor use in males with poor growth potential.

Research InterestMy research at Ruiz-Lozano's Lab is focused on the micromechanisms involved in cardiac remodeling/regeneration following severe heart injuries, particularly, post myocardial infarction (MI). By employing engineered 3D collagen scaffolds, we aim to develop cardiac patches associated with specific targeting characteristics in order to efficiently interfere with cardiac remodeling phenomena after MI.
