  • Description:  In 2006, Stanford medical students and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital staff published the third annual children’s magazine entitled Healing HeARTs. This magazine highlights original artwork, photographs and writings of LPCH patients and their siblings. Our missions are: to encourage and support the creative expressions of children at LPCH, to build pride and self-esteem in children at LPCH by displaying their creations and to increase community awareness of issues surrounding the hospitalization and illnesses of children. In 2007, the Healing HeARTs project will be expanding to record children's artwork and their audio commentary about their creations in a DVD movie format. We encourage patients of all ages and their siblings to submit art, photography or writing pieces to the magazine. Artwork may be in any medium, address any subject (medical or non-medical) and can include information about a patient’s or sibling’s health, diagnosis, prognosis, parents and/or family members. All submissions are displayed on closed-circuit television at LPCH for viewing by hospital visitors, patients and staff. For more information, contact Dr. Grace Cheng at dr.grace.cheng@stanford.edu.
