Scientific Focus
Research Interests
Our laboratory examines apoptotic and cell cycle pathways in the lung with a focus on fibrotic lung disease and lung cancer. We have identified a novel regulator of cell cycle progression in immune cells. We are also studying TGF beta signaling in lung cells which regulates myofibroblast differentiation and epithelia mesenchymal transition. Our laboratory is also collaborating with the laboratory of Dr. Irving Weissman to isolate and characterize lung cancer stem cells, and we are collaborating with a local biotechnology company on a proteomic analysis of lung cancer. We also are involved in trials of novel therapeutics for patients with pulmonary fibrosis.
