Research Interests

Dr. Murovic’s research interests encompass being a member of the Stanford University Medical Center (SUMC) Neurosurgery Spine laboratory, which has been studying the clinical outcomes and biomechanical properties of various spine instrumentation systems and artificial discs. In addition to collaborations on the aforementioned projects, she has been specifically studying the incidence of spinal “adjacent segment disease” after traditional cervical fusions.

She is actively involved in the preliminary research with human disc cells, which has begun in the Neurosurgery Spine laboratory. Human disc cells are being grown in cell culture, to be utilized to eventually create replacement discs formulated from the patient's own disc material.

Dr. Murovic has also been involved in collaborative efforts with Dr. Kline at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in the past few years involving the analysis of peripheral nerves and their injuries. This research has been included in the 2nd edition of Nerve Injury by Dr. Kline and Hudson of which she is one of the co-authors.

She has been analyzing the outcomes of patients with foraminal nerve sheath tumors after open surgery versus treatment with CyberKnife Radiosurgery. This work is in press as companion publications.
