Current Research Interests
Dr. Koopman's current research includes the following:
1) As Principal Investigator, collaborating with experts in Lyme disease and biostatistics to understand diverse manifestations of Lyme disease and their relationships to demographic and medical characteristics and diagnostic tests.
2) As Principal Investigator, collaborating with a Stanford-based biostatistician and project coordinator and community-based partners at the Sierra Streams Institute, Nevada City, to develop and evaluate interventions for delivering support to improve quality of life among women in rural communities who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
3) Collaborating (as Co-PI) with Dr. David Spiegel (PI) and colleagues on a large scale study of the relationships among sleep disturbance, diurnal stress hormone patterns, and breast cancer survival.
4) Collaborating (as Co-Investigator) with Dr. Cheryl Gore-Felton (PI) and colleagues on research to evaluate psychotherapy interventions to reduce chronic stress as well as enhance positive health behaviors to reduce morbidity and mortality among patients coping with chronic medical illness.
