Residency Training Program In the Department of Pediatrics

Stanford Society of Physician Scholars (SSPS) Residency Through Fellowship Program

The Stanford Society of Physician Scholars (SSPS) Residency Through Fellowship Program is designed to encourage and support physician-scientists on their research paths.  It is open to MD/PhD residents and other residents who have had extensive prior research experience.  In addition to gaining mentorship through the Stanford Society of Physician Scholars (SSPS), this program allows research-focused residents to have dedicated funding for a Stanford fellowship if accepted to that fellowship program.  SSPS scholars tend to be highly competitive for Stanford fellowship programs.

Selection process: Two to four pediatrics residents will be selected based on their interest in applying to a pediatrics fellowship program and commitment to a career in research.  Potential candidates will be identified through self-nomination during their residency interviews or during residency.  A committee will select the residents accepted into the program based on past training, research experience, their personal statement, and interviews.

Description of the Program:

Through this program, residents have successfully matched into the fellowships of their choosing and been able to continue to build upon their research training during residency.
