Pediatrics and Anesthesia
Morning Report takes place Monday-Thursday (Grand Rounds is on Friday) at LPCH and Valley. In general, morning report is to emphasize one’s clinical reasoning abilities, and we often review difficult and puzzling cases. On Tuesdays, we separate into Intern Morning Report and Junior/Senior Morning Report, in order to emphasize more class-specific topics.
Held every Friday September-June, Grand Rounds is a great way to learn cutting edge pediatric clinical research, basic science research, child advocacy, quality improvement, medical education, and global health.
Noon Conference takes place Monday-Friday at LPCH and Valley. Noon conference is transitioning to emphasizing more interactive learning, and focuses on both general pediatrics and subspecialty topics as a way of augmenting what is learned during the rotations.
Since 2005, we have had a nightly nighttime teaching session. These sessions are held at 11pm at both LPCH and Valley. We are proud that Stanford was the initial pilot site and leaders of the National Pediatric Nighttime Curriculum, which is now used in over 100 pediatric residency programs (with over 2000 learners/year)!
Intern Boot Camp
This summer-long series is specifically designed for interns. It takes places on Friday mornings (8-9am), and all interns are protected to attend. In this series, we emphasize critical thinking, team-building, and other skills needed for succeeding as physicians.
Career Development Series
A series of noontime and nighttime sessions are held to introduce residents to career possibilities, including how to apply to fellowships and jobs, how to negotiate, how to maximize residency in preparation for next steps, etc.
Anesthesia Simulations Monthly
Once a month, join your anesthesia residency colleagues for anesthesia simulation sessions. These sessions have been very well-regarded.
