Advising

The Stanford Pediatrics Residency Program is proud to provide all pediatric residents with a class APD (Associate Program Director), coach, and individual career advisor.

Associate Program Directors: 

APD Roles 

  • Provide career guidance 
  • Provide personal support 
  • Discuss and approve elective requests 
  • Review and discuss evaluations twice per year 
  • 1st point of contact if coach or advisor is concerned about a resident 

Caroline Buckway, MD (APD, Advising and Wellness): Class of 2020 and Pediatrics-Anesthesia Track 

Lahia Yemane, MD (APD, Advising and Career Development): Class of 2019 and Pediatrics-Genetics Track 

Carrie Rassbach, MD (APD, Advising, Assessment and Coaching): Class of 2018 and Pediatrics- Physician Scientists Track 

 

Coaches: 

Coach Roles 

  • Responsible for observing each resident in various clinical settings 
  • Responsible for reviewing ILP (Individualized Learning Plan) with resident

Advisor Roles 

  • Provide career guidance 
  • Provide personal support 
  • Meet with advisee a minimum of twice yearly and document meeting in medhub. 
    • 1st meeting: July/August 
    • 2nd meeting: January/February
