Pediatric Grand Rounds Webinar (CME): Hypnosis in the Medical Setting

This presentation will cover the topic of hypnosis in the pediatric setting. Principles of hypnosis will be reviewed followed by discussion, with videotapes, to demonstrate the application of hypnosis for common pediatric conditions including Tourette syndrome and its use to help in the differential diagnosis of patients with Functional Neurologic Disorder.

Session Description

This presentation will cover the topic of hypnosis in the pediatric setting. Principles of hypnosis will be reviewed followed by discussion, with videotapes, to demonstrate the application of hypnosis for common pediatric conditions including Tourette syndrome and its use to help in the differential diagnosis of patients with Functional Neurologic Disorder. The presentation will conclude with the demonstration of Imaginaction, a new website that can be used to teach patients and parents hypnosis scripts for symptom management, that has recently been developed in the Division of Child Psychiatry at Stanford.

  • Learn about the use of hypnosis for differential diagnosis of FND
  • Learn to use Imaginaction, a website used to teach patients to use hypnosis
