This session will be a didactic activity covering the characteristics and definition of leadership, how it differs from management, why leadership is important in medicine, the most important skills for successful leadership, and a frame for attendees to use to build their leadership approach and abilities.

  • Define leadership in a meaningful way and understand how it differs from management
  • Outline and discuss why leadership is important in medicine
  • Utilize a simple leadership framework to harnes his/her abilities to lead
