The role of the Associate Chair includes:
Assisting the Chair in the administration of the academic mission and policies of the Department, School, and University, as well as determining appropriate ranks for new and current faculty and making recommendations
Participate in faculty searches and assure that equal consideration has been given to candidates from outside institutions, from a diversity of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and that both male and female candidates have been considered
Work collaboratively with the Pediatric Mentoring Programs to assist and advise faculty with regards to their career development
Promote efforts to enhance faculty diversity and inclusion at all levels in the Department
The purpose of the Department of Pediatrics A&P Committee is to evaluate Pediatrics Faculty appointment, reappointment, and promotion files based on University policies and provide recommendations directly to the Department Chair. This committee provides appropriate guidance, ensures that faculty members are supported, mentored, and provided with the opportunity to achieve their goals. The committee provides a recommendation to the Chair by offering input for proposed actions in the University Tenure Line, the Medical Center Line and the Non-Tenure (Research) and (Teaching) Lines and the Clinician Educator line (excluding Clinician Educator (Affiliates). Committee meets monthly to review actions. Each file is acccompanied by a checklist that the A&P primary reviewer completes.
