Neurodegeneration Retreat

Hosted by Stanford Pathology

Fogarty Winery

How about a sunny day in the Santa Cruz Mountains...

that brings together the local neurodegenerative community?! We aim to learn and discuss how novel next-generation technologies in sequencing, imaging, and data science has advanced the field, and to address key challenges of the complexity of the human brain to find novel solutions for neurodegenerative diseases.

We invite students, clinical and postdoctoral fellows, research associates, instructors, and faculty with an interest in neurodegeneration to spend a day together to engage in new aspects of disease etiology and mechanisms; and dive into next-generation technologies to unravel mechanisms and pathways in the organization of the human brain that—if disturbed—lead to neuronal vulnerability.

We hope this retreat will spark insightful discussions on disease pathogenesis, stimulate cross-fertilization, and facilitate opportunities for new collaborative studies and funding.

The retreat is hosted by the Department of Pathology at the Stanford University School of Medicine, co-sponsored by the Department of Pathology and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, and supported by the Pacific Udall Center and Stanford Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. Our scientific organizers are Vinita Ganesh Chittoor, Faria Zafar, and Birgitt Schuele.

Dear participant of the Stanford Neurodegeneration Retreat!

We had been looking forward to the Stanford Neurodegeneration retreat 2020 on April 10, 2020.

I am sure you will not be completely surprised to hear that with the developments around COVID-19 precautions,
we decided to postpone the retreat.

The scientific planning committee was really excited about the invited speakers and networking session, and we hope to be able to reschedule the retreat for later this year — we will let you know more when we are able to schedule and arrange a future date.

Thank you for your understanding.

With best wishes for good health, and more,
Birgitt, Vinita, and Faria
