Biostatistician

Description

The Department of Anesthesiology, Pain & Perioperative Medicine, Division of Pain Medicine, Stanford University is seeking a Biostatistician to manage relevant databases as necessary, design studies, devise analysis plan, create analytic files, implement analysis plan and report and publish findings.  The position is 50% time and reports to the Division Chief. 

Duties Include

  • Design study
  • Implement protocol for quality control
  • Create analytic files with detailed documentation
  • Implement data analysis through statistical programming
  • Present results for investigators using graphs and tables
  • Summarize findings orally and in written form
  • Participate in the preparation of papers for publication
  • Other duties may also be assigned

Education and Experience (required)

Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics or related field

Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required)

  • Proficient in at least two of R, SAS, SPSS, or STATA
  • Skills in descriptive analysis, modeling of data, and graphic interfaces
  • Outstanding ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • 1 year of experience doing collaborative biostatistics

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficient in Perl, Python, or other scripting languages for data munging
  • Skills in statistical estimation, statistical inference, and modeling fitting diagnostics
  • Proficient in R or SAS
  • Knowledge of non-parametric statistics, Bayesian methods, and small sample size methods
  • 2 year of experience doing collaborative biostatistics
  • 2 years of experience manipulating large databases programmatically
  • Previous experience in an academic institution, or academic hospital setting
