Biography

Dr. Matthew (Matt) Wright is a licensed physical therapist, working through the Stanford Pain Clinic. Matt completed his undergraduate studies at San Jose State University, graduating magna cum laude and as a Presidential Scholar with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Following his undergraduate work, Matt pursued his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of California, San Francisco/San Francisco State University. Matt joined the pain clinic staff in 2019. Prior to joining the pain clinic staff, Matt completed a residency in orthopaedics through the Stanford Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Physical Therapy Clinic.

In his current role, Matt works closely alongside Stanford Pain Medicine’s team of physicians, physical therapists, nurses, and psychologists to develop comprehensive treatment plans that seek to improve the lives of those living with persistent pain. Matt’s role within the pain medicine team specifically includes developing non-pharmacological ways (i.e. movement, exercise, and mindfulness) to help restore meaningful movement, improve physical function, and better overall quality of life.

In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and keeping up with his local sports teams. Matt has been an avid Notre Dame Football fan since childhood and still carves out time to cheer on his Irish on a weekly basis during the Fall. Matt is a native of San Jose and still resides there today with his wife and son.
