SOMOS Mayfair: Bringing Community Together

Goals

  • Assess Emma Prusch Farm Park and Mayfair Park as well as the streets surrounding them based on four themes of environmental and social barriers to physical activity: (1) Access & Utilization of Public Space for Health, Fun & Safety (2) Public Art - Community Beautification, Expression & Identity (3) Affordable Housing (4) Abandonment and Dangerous Infrastructure

Outcomes

  • An MOU with the School District to access a local soccer field
  • Youth development of scavenger hunt cards for use at the parks
  • Scholarships for enrichment programs at Mayfair Park Community Center
  • Creation of "walking loop" cards through a new partnership with CA Walks and resident-led walking groups
  • Physical activity programming in conjunction with National Night Out and the Viva Parks program
