Our Voice matters (Part 1) - Engaging with future citizen scientists

Project Description:

We want to identify potential citizen scientists who will be willing through skills training and advocacy to collect, analyse, and disseminate data which in turn can overcome previously identified challenges in translating research into practice and policy.  To achieve this we need to build relationships with our future citizen scientists and this is the aim of this project.

Partners:

  • University of Bath
  • Public Engagement Unit (University of Bath)
  • Golden Oldies Charity
  • Bristol Health Partners

Participants:

  • Older people with diverse socioeconomic status

Research Question:

What are effective ways of engaging with diverse groups of older adults and supporting them in becoming citizen scientists?

Our Voice Impact

"This experience has changed my life.  I see inadequacies everywhere I go as it relates to pedestrian access and safety.  I even stop [at] construction sites to remind them to be considerate of the handicapped in our community.  Thank you all so much for this awareness and empowerment to require change."
