Walkability in Cuernavaca: Exploring the Potential of Social Mobilization for Active Living in Mexico

Participants:

  • 32 older adults and 9 adolescents
  • High and low income Mexican neighborhoods

Goals:

  • Identify how neighborhoods with different income levels may objectively define "walkability" differently 
  • Identify actionable barriers to healthy living 

 

Outcomes:

  • Empowered residents to "become the solution" in areas where local decision makers may be inaccessible 
  • Bridged the generational divide among the older adults and adolescents
