About Dr. Richard L. Goode

Recent and ongoing clinical research activities in the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery include Dermabond for blepharoplasty closure, devices for laser skin resurfacing, crease-creating techniques for the Asian eyelid, the ThermaCool browlift, endoscopic browlift fixation, the minimally-invasive facelift, ablation of the nerve to the corrugator muscle, and properties of wound dressings. These studies are performed under the direction of Dr. Richard L. Goode, and the Facial Plastic Surgery Fellow. Basic science research is performed at the Wound Healing & Tissue Engineering Laboratory under the direction of Dr. R. James Koch. This is a modern, well-equipped cell culture laboratory with approximately 500 square feet at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (Room F4-211 on the 4th floor of Bldg. 100) with acche laboratory iess to considerable core facilities. The laboratory has extensive experience profiling the characteristics of normal, keloid-producing, fetal, and irradiated fibroblasts, with the overall goal being to improve the healing of wounds. In addition, ts creating cartilage autografts using tissue engineering methods for use in facial and airway reconstruction.
