Healthy 40 y.o. person with 1.9 cm left lateral tongue WD SCC with 6 mm depth of invasion clinically and by imaging, including MRI and PET-CT.   Because the depth is >3-4 mm, observation of the neck is insufficient.
The next step in approaching the neck should be (1) Sentinel lymph node biopsy (2) Selective neck dissection
