STANFORD, Calif. — As a community of educators and researchers, the Stanford University School of Medicine condemns the violent attacks against our fellow scientists at the University of California-Santa Cruz. An attack on them is an assault on all of us who believe in the value of research aimed at expanding biomedical knowledge and easing human suffering. All members of the scientific community must be united in renouncing acts of violence directed at those who are committed to advancing knowledge of human biology and finding the best possible ways to understand and treat disease.
