I am an MT for Spheris and we do dictation. I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Borchers, although I did not know him. My prayers and concern go to his family.

I transcribe notes for Stanford Hospital, and Dr. Borchers was a pleasure to type. I am very sorry for your loss.

I am an MT who has typed for Dr. Borchers and, though never having met him personally, over time you begin to feel as you have through their voice. I am saddened by the loss of such a gifted young man, and my thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this time.

In 2001, John fused my cervical spine at C3-C4 and C4-C5. He was an incredible surgeon, but more importantly, he was simply one of the most wonderful human beings I ever knew. He always treated me with such respect and colleagueship. We used to talk all the time about the model cars he made, that he displayed in his office in Greenbrae, and about his motorcycle riding, about our kids, and about chronic pain and what it could do to people. He is obviously irreplaceable, and I will always honor his memory. It was a blessing of a lifetime to have known him.

John was my guardian angel in 2001 when he placed an aneurysm clip in my brain following a massive stroke. I'll never forget him standing by my side as I lay in ICU, discussing the procedure I faced with such a calm, nurturing voice. And later when I woke up and he used the analogy that I'd probably feel like a cat that got hit by a truck for a month. Funny. A cat. Nine lives. He had certainly given me one of those (9) lives. And wonderful friendship. An awesome friend, not only to me but my family. Always there returning pages, full of advice, wisdom & comfort. And Heart. PURE HEART! John, you'll always be a part of my heart. My family's heart.
Inspiring me by sharing his love for his family. The Ultimate Family man. Soo sweet!
Thanks for EVERYTHING John!
Much Love, Margaret
p.s. I know I'll see you again ... not talking about Heaven's gate. But at Heaven's Gate surrounded in your light & music. The things you know now ... hmmmm. Is it like that day in surgery?
