Alan Alda on communicating science effectively

Alan Alda won five Emmy awards for his iconic portrayal of Hawkeye Pierce in the TV series'M*A*S*H.' He also hosted the PBS show, 'Scientific American Frontiers,' interviewing more than 700 scientists during the show's 12-year run. What fans of the actor may not know is that he's a visiting professor in journalism at Stony Brook University in New York and a co-founder of the school's Center for Communicating Science.
