Victor Carrion, MD

Katrin Andreasson, MD, has been appointed associate professor of neurology and neurological sciences, as of April 1. She is interested in understanding the basic mechanisms by which neurons die in stroke and in neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Victor Carrion, MD, has been promoted to associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, as of April 1. Much of his research focuses on examining the relationship between brain development and stress vulnerability using a multi-method approach that includes psychophysiology, neuroimaging, neuroendocrinology and phenomenology.

Paul Blumenthal, MD, MPH, has been appointed professor of obstetrics and gynecology, as of April 1. He joins the Stanford faculty from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Blumenthal serves as director of ambulatory gynecology, and will be running the family planning and contraception research program as well as some additional women's health research programs.

Quynh-Thu Le, MD, has been promoted to professor of radiation oncology, as of April 1. Her lab research focuses on the identification of serum markers for tumor hypoxia and for prognosis in patients with head and neck or lung cancers, and she is conducting a number of clinical trials specifically in patients with these tumors. Le also serves as director of clinical research in the Department of Radiation Oncology.
