Basic Weekday Schedule

Clinical Rotations for Residents

7:00 - 8:00 am

Review census and classify patients as "New", "Follow-up", or "Discharge." Identify newborns with problems.  Follow up any labs or overnight events. See newborns who are anticipated "Discharges" and patients with urgent issues first.

7:30 - 7:45 am

Expect a call on SPC phone from Resource Nurses on F1 and F2 with information regarding early discharges or urgent issues.

8:00 - 8:30 am

Morning report in LPCH Board Room.

8:45 am - 12:00 pm

Meet in F1 workroom to round with attending physician. Perform circumcisions or other minor procedures.

11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Lactation class in F1 Family Meeting Room (near elevator). Plan to attend once during rotation.

12:00 - 1:00 pm

Noon Conference in LPCH Board Room.

1:00 - 5:00 pm

Finish rounds on remaining infants. Perform circumcisions or other minor procedures.  Discharge planning for families leaving the following morning.  See all "New" babies born before 10 am.
