NewsStanford Kidney Transplantation: Best in the West 125 adult patients underwent kidney transplantation at Stanford between July 1, 2000 and December 31, 2002 had a one-year graft survival of 99%, statistically higher than the expected graft survival of 93% based on patient characteristics. Only 15 of the 240 U.S. kidney transplant centers active during that time achieved statistically higher than expected one-year graft survival. Of these 15 centers, Stanford had the best one-year graft survival. Stanford was the only West Coast program of these 15 centers.
