Marta came to Stanford to join the Imaging Radiobiology Lab after completing her PhD at the University of Barcelona. In her doctoral work she studied the in vivo behaviour and functionality of mesenchymal stem cells as vehicles for gene therapy of tumours and for tissue regeneration using bioluminescence imaging. Marta's work at Stanford is currently focused on development of a preclinical model in which to study radiotherapy and anti-HIF therapies. She is new to the United States, so in her free time Marta is trying to see as much of this big country as possible. Other than working in the lab, she loves meeting her friends, reading, and chilling out at home with some music and a nice glass of wine.
