Every year the Department of Microbiology & Immunology holds a Scientific Conference that graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, faculty and staff of the Stanford M&I program attend.

This annual conference includes presentations, a poster session, invited keynote speakers, alumni career panel, breakout sessions, and social events. Talks are given by members in the Microbiology & Immunology community and one to two members of each lab speak and present their research. 

First year students use this opportunity to get to know their classmates and fellow graduate students, as well as to learn more about faculty and lab research interests. This allows entering students to familiarize themselves with the wide range of biological systems offered in the program while remaining close to one area they may continue studying for thesis research.
