Literature & Medicine Dinner and Discussion Series

"The LitMed program was a great way to engage your core as a physician and share it with your colleagues."
-Steve Asch, MD, Professor of Medicine

The Stanford Literature & Medicine Dinner and Discussion series is designed to provide an opportunity for physicians to come together and share a meal while discussing works of literature. The program is designed to encourage the exploration of the challenges and rewards of being a doctor. Led by a skilled medical humanities facilitator, the Literature & Medicine series provides a supportive environment for candid and thoughtful discussion among physician colleagues.  In our 2015 pilot program, over 30 physician attendees were highly appreciative of the opportunity to interact with and learn from colleagues of different ages, backgrounds and specialties. Participant quotes included: “It’s gratifying to hear the perspective of doctors with training in other areas,” and ”the program was a great way to engage your core as a physician and share it with your colleagues.”

The program is supported by the Stanford Committee on Professional Satisfaction and Support and the Office of the Dean of the School of Medicine.

The schedule for two groups is listed below. If you are interested in participating, please register by no later than December 17, 2015 with Jacqueline Genovese (jmgeno@stanford.edu).  Please include your name, title and department.  After the registration deadline you will be notified regarding next steps.
