Call for Proposals

We welcome proposals on all topics in the Health Humanities field, not just related to Frankenstein (please see below for examples of topics).  Proposals must be submitted online by 11:59pm (PDT) on November 1, 2017. Please contact 2018hhc-frankenstein@stanford.edu with any questions.

We request a limit of one abstract submission per person (or two if you are a secondary on someone else's proposal) if possible - we are aiming for outstanding abstracts with a diversity of presenters.

  • Abstact file upload (limited to 350 words)

Proposal Format

We invite proposals in the following formats:

  • Flash presentation (5-7 minutes)
  • Individual paper (10-12 minutes)
  • Panel (60 minutes)
  • Poster
  • Workshop (60 minutes)

  • Film and Theater Studies
  • Health Professions

  • Interpretive social sciences
  • Literature and Medicine
  • Medicine
  • Narrative medicine
  • Nursing
  • Philosophy
  • Popular culture
  • Religious/theological studies
  • Various critical studies (e.g., disability, LGBTQ, race, media, gender, age)
