Department of Medicine

New Vice Dean In The School Of Medicine

Faculty Spotlight: Linda Boxer

Linda Boxer Linda Boxer, MD, Vice Dean in the School of Medicine

At this time, it is my pleasure to announce that Linda Boxer has accepted the position of Vice Dean at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Linda has been at Stanford since earning her M.D., Ph.D. here and is a deeply respected and accomplished leader in the Department of Medicine where she is a professor, Senior Vice Chair, and Chief of the Division of Hematology. A true physician scientist, Linda has an active clinical practice and also runs a lab investigating molecular abnormalities in hematologic malignancies.

During her time as Interim Chair of the Department of Medicine, Linda quickly won the admiration and respect of faculty, trainees, and staff, dramatically improving communication and mentoring as well as expanding educational opportunities for residents and students.

I have been most impressed by Linda’s integrity and insight and am honored to have her join the Dean’s Office. As Vice Dean, Linda will partner with me and other leaders to set strategic directions and priorities, advise me on senior academic leadership appointments, and work to enhance collaboration and increase interaction between basic science and clinical science departments, and among the university, the other schools, and Stanford Medicine.

Linda’s portfolio will also include leadership of academic affairs, which supports the recruitment, appointment, retention, and promotion of all faculty members. Linda’s appointment is effective September 1 though she will begin to be involved in activities of the Dean’s Office immediately.

Sincerely,
Lloyd Minor, MD
