| Renee Reijo Pera, PhD, the director of human embryonic stem cell research for the Stanford Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, discusses current research with embryonic stem cells and their potential for women’s health. Many researchers believe these cells could be used to replace cells damaged by diseases such as diabetes, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Using embryonic stem cells to better understand the first days of development may also lead to a better understanding of infertility and common birth defects. | |
