Applying for Financial Aid: Application Process

The financial aid application process is required and must be completed each academic year you wish to receive financial aid.

 

Application Process: 2009-10 Academic Year

You will forfeit Stanford based aid if you submit application materials after December 31, 2009.

Required Documents:

1) 2009-2010 FAFSA

Free Application for Federal Student Aid

Stanford University School of Medicine school code: G24552.

You must use your PIN number to file your FAFSA.

The deadline to submit the 09-10 FAFSA is June 30, 2010

2) 2009-10 Need Access Application

**Students who will be 30 years old by the beginning of the academic year are considered independent and do not need to submit the Need Access Application. Do not complete the Need Access application if you wish to apply for federal aid only.**

Register online at www.needaccess.org.  Complete all required information.  Parental information (income) is required.

*Note: A nominal fee of $28 for new applications and $18 for renewal applications will be assessed.

3) 2009-2010 Supplemental Financial Aid Application

4) 2008 Federal Income Tax Returns, W-2s, and All Associated Documents

You must forward signed and dated copies of yours, your spouse's (if married), and both biological parents' completed 2008 1040 Federal Income Tax forms with W-2s, all required schedules, and all partnership or corporate returns (Schedule K1, Schedule B, Form 1120).

If you (or your spouse or parents) are not required to file a federal tax return and will not do so, you must complete a non-tax filing statement (only for US Citizens or Permanent Residents that did not file a 1040 federal income tax return).

If your parent(s) is not a US Citizen or Permanent Resident, he/she is required to provide official income verification from his/her employer. This verification must show your parent's income for the 2008 year and MUST BE CONVERTED into US dollars.

If it is impossible to secure information from a parent due to absolute estrangement, you may complete an absolute estrangement waiver. Professional third-party verification of the circumstance is required.

Students who will be 30 years old by the date of matriculation (first day of autumn quarter) are not required to submit their parents' tax returns.
