Pre-clerkship Schedules
The Stanford MD curriculum combines basic science and clinical experience with in-depth study and independent research through the Scholarly Concentrations (see the Curriculum Schematic for more details).
The preclinical curriulum can be completed in two academic years (six preclinical quarters), but many students choose to extend their preclinical coursework over three years (nine quarters). Students must successfully complete all required courses on the curriculum grid in order to continue on to the clinical years. For a complete listing of preclinical and clinical course units required for graduation, see Units Required for Graduation).
