
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford is the referral center for critically ill pediatric patients from San Luis Obispo to the penninsula of the Bay Area.
The patients represent a diverse spectrum of disease, and include both medical and surgical patients. Post operative orthopedic, cardiovascular, neurosurgical, pediatric, and transplant surgery patients are often cared for here. Transplants performed at LSPCH include: cardiac, cardio/pulmonary, liver, and renal. A small bowel transplantation program is expected to start in the Fall of 1996.
