Jocelyn Chin
Stanford Medical School

Jocelyn Chin was born and raised in the Silicon Valley before attending MIT, where she graduated in 2009 with a degree in chemical engineering. After internships at Johnson&Johnson and Genentech, she realized that her passion was in the application of engineering and science to health care.

Currently, she is a second year medical student at Stanford. She has been a MedScholar in the cardiothoracic transplant lab since 2009, working on the Metformin and Marfan projects (see below for more information). In the Metformin project, she investigated apoptotic pathways in an acute rejection model of mouse cardiac transplantation. In the Marfan project, she is studying the molecular mechanisms of aortic root aneurysm formation in Marfan mice.

Outside of school and lab, she volunteers at Arbor Free Clinic and teaches SAT and AP review classes at a college prep center. Her other interests include classical piano music, Impressionistic and Post-impressionistic art, 19th century English literature, cooking, and the LA Lakers.
