Susan Knox Lab

A primary focus of research in my lab has been the identification and study of novel agents that potentiate the effects of radiation and chemotherapy on tumor cells, and protect normal tissues from the effects of radiation.

Our current long-term goals are to:

  1. Identify and develop new drugs to increase the therapeutic index of radiation therapy.
  2. Study and optimize ways to use radiation therapy in combination with targeted immunotherapy as a component of in situ tumor vaccine strategies, including the identification of biomarkers indicative of the development of a clinically meaningful anti-tumor immune response.
  3. Discover and validate biomarkers of radiation exposure for use in a point of care device for purposes of triaging potentially exposed populations
