Simple Hosting for Sites Not Developed by IRT
Most official Stanford Medicine entities seeking free hosting by IRT are required by policy to use the standard Stanford Medicine format. Faculty-associated laboratory and other sites are specifically exempted from this requirement, although IRT does encourage them to use the official format as well. In these and some other special cases, sites may be hosted without using the standard formatting, a scenario referred to as "simple hosting." Such requests are handled on a case-by-case basis, with code review required, and IRT reserves the right to refuse hosting of any site not conforming to IRT standards.
Please familiarize yourself with our hosting requirements. IMPORTANT: Development of CGI, PERL, or other scripts and database or other web applications is not permitted on the IRT server, only static files, such as html, jpg, gif, swf, doc, xls, ppt, etc. Many server-driven processes are available and can be explored under the Web Applications section. If you find you need a back-end process not currently provided, we also develop those, so contact us.
Hosting is free to official Stanford Medicine entities. A SUNet ID is required for each person needing editing access to any site hosted by IRT.
The site's files, ready for Web publication, must be delivered to IRT for analysis and processing prior to hosting on IRT's server. IRT will not provide a blank directory for upload. IRT will install server tracking and/or other required code while hosting the initial site. The site's owners must then get and propigate the new page code in all new pages during ongoing publication.
If you believe your site qualifies for simple hosting, or should, please request a New Site via the Web Help form »
Thank you for your interest in IRT's services.
