Publishing Content with Dreamweaver

dreamweaver

Dreamweaver is the tool of choice when you expect to create new topics, sub-sites, or other site structure. Although it's a more advanced tool than Contribute, it is also fairly easy to learn and use.

Get To Work with Dreamweaver

Become a Dreamweaver Web Author: Each SoM site's sponsors must assign one or more Web Authors to ensure that the site is kept up to date. To become a Dreamweaver Web Author, please use the Web Help form to request access to an existing Stanford Medicine site or to request access to a practice site, and select the checkbox for Dreamweaver in the form. You must have a SUNet ID to become a Web Author. More »

Install Dreamweaver: Dreamweaver is available through Stanford Software Licensing. You can get a good deal on multiple Adobe software packages sold as "Suites," which are priced on the main Adobe Softeware page (SUNet ID required). For information on individual software packages, see the Complete Part Number List (pdf) (SUNet ID required).

Get Ready: You must first set up Dreamweaver to connect, then get the site files from the server, and set up your local Templates folder.

Go to Work: With Dreamweaver you can edit existing pages, create new pages and new topics, edit text, insert body links to pages and documents, and update left navigation links.

Get Training: IRT provides detailed online training for Dreamweaver, including self-paced video tutorials, and in-person training. We can even give you access to a student practice area where you can safely learn Dreamweaver.

Free built-in Training: Take advantage of Dreamweaver's built-in tutorial. While in Dreamweaver, click "Help" in the menu bar then "Dreamweaver Tutorial", or click "Get Started" in the bottom section of the left-hand panel labeled "How Do I...". There are also updates, help files and a tutorial on the Macromedia Web site: http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/
