Reconnecting With WebDAV

Because saving your WebDAV (SUNet) password is not recommended, you will need to enter it in your site definition each time you launch Dreamweaver to work on the site. Your password is stored and available as long as Dreamweaver is running, but is forgotten as soon as you quit Dreamweaver.

If you attempt to connect with a site definition where the password has not been entered, you will see the following 401 HTTP error:

Here's how to refresh your password and connect:

  1. From the "Site" menu, select "Manage Sites..." to view a list of sites
  2. Select your site's name and click the "Edit" button
  3. Make sure the "Advanced" tab is selected.
  4. Click on the "Remote Info" category in the left pane. Access is set to "WebDAV"
  5. Click the "Settings" button. Most of your WebDAV settings should be entered. If not, refer to the initial setup directions.

  6. Enter your password. Don't click the "Save Password" button. Click OK to return to your site definition panel.
  7. Click OK to return to the Edit Sites panel. With your site selected from the list, click on the "Done" button.
  8. Click the connect button to connect and begin working
